Father's Day

On Father's Day Abraham, Mariam and another little friend were dedicated at church. A Dedication service involves parents dedicating a baby to Christ through public declaration and prayer, and the body of Christ committing to join with the parents in training the child up in the ways of Christ. It was a very special day for our families! The gown (Mariam) and slip (Abraham) shown above have been worn by many of Jonathan and David's relatives at their baptisms. Each name has been lovingly embroidered on the slip by Grandma Shupe and Great-Grandma Baur. This was a new tradition to many in our Mennonite Church, so we had to do some explaining as to why for one day of his life, Abraham was wearing a dress!:)

We were blessed to have Andrew home and asked him to be a sponsor to Abraham. We are excited to see his role in Abraham's life and believe he will be a great encouragement and Godly example in Abraham's life.

How blessed I was at another of your great articles! Thanks for all the explanations of dedication and the dress that I made in my single days-a gift of love for future generations! What a great picture of the two on the blanket of Grandma's! Hope to get the latest two names embroidered on before the next baby comes! God's gifts are so precious and loved - Abraham Elijah and Mariam Esther Shupe!
