Drinking Deep of Melancholy

Yesterday Abraham's Uncle Lu left for his new job on the other side of the continent. We are happy and excited for him that he got the very job at the very school he most wanted, the very day before school started. Yet thoughts of him gone are causing us to drink deep. We get to think about him much throughout the day, as many things we see or say cause Abraham to say "Andrew?!" They are especially good buddies. And for that we are very thankful.
It reminds me of the Christian Walk. So much of it is sorrowful yet always rejoicing.

Who But Lu

Today is Andrew (*brother #7*) Shupe's birthday! A year ago we were wondering if Abraham might share a birthday with Andrew, but he missed it by a day:). (How ever this is the one time in their lives that they actually can share it together, because Abraham is actually 1 year old today based on the length of a year. This being a leap year, that adjusts for 4 years all in one year. He gets 2 days to celebrate!!!) They're close enough to celebrate together, but Andrew's way out in Iowa (booo:))! What a great guy to get to celebrate with each year. Hope you have a great day at Dordt, Uncle Lu!

Total Shock!!

I wish dearly that we would have taken a picture of my baby brother Andrew (Lu) when we surprised him this past weekend at his lacrosse game in Minnesota!! HE WAS TOTALLY SHOCKED!!! HAHA!

That right there was worth the 12+ hour drive to the game:).

He had two games that weekend, but we were only able to see one because of when we could get out there. It was tons of fun!!! The game we saw them play was against St. Thomas (from St. Paul, MN). They are the #1 team in the nation in Division B. Sooooo, Dordt lost:( but it was fun to watch!

The field was pretty much SWEET! It was the new form of turf with rubber chunks in it. It was at a private high school (a boarding school).

This is the high school dome! How many high schools have their own dome? I mean for real that is nuts! But hey their girls soccer won nationals last year so it must be worth something. Oh and as a side note. Here is a pic of one of their two indoor hockey rinks. And yes both their boys and girls won nationals this year and their girls did last year too. (They also offer figure skating).
