Michigan's First Wind Park!

We've been excited this summer to get to watch the construction of Michigan's first wind park! Between our house and Pigeon, the neighboring town where Angela works, John Deere and Detroit Edison have been building over 30 windmills this summer.

This pic shows the first part of the tower that they build...


They have been bringing all the parts in on a train into a local quarry, because it is the only site nearby with a large enough facility to unload everything.



The parts were all originally shipped from Holland - go Dutchies!!



This is one of the finished products - a beautiful white windmill! This summer there were only fields to look at on Angela's 10 minute drive to work...now there are 16 windmills up already! Wowzers!
