Electrical Update

Well, the electricity is almost all back on. I only know of one place in the area that is still being worked on. We talked to the power companies today about the poles and they said that between them there were over 700 poles down in Huron county! And that doesn't count all of the lines off of poles that were otherwise fine. Neighbors of ours just got their electricity turned on this afternoon (Donny). We are very thankful that ours came back on Sunday night!!! Yesterday was rather cold here. In the morning it was about 25 degrees out but the wind chill was -2 and that was the warmest part of the day. The temp dropped throughout the day and the wind continually got stronger until it was 7 degrees. I don't know what the wind chill was then, but it was probably about -15. Can you imagine being without any power and it being that cold out with a very strong wind!!! brrrrrrrr!!!! It is funny what you take for granted. I was heading home with the tractor to hook it up to our maypole one night (the lights don't work on the tractor) and my dad volunteered to follow me home. I said "Nah, that's alright, we have a yard light. I'll just use that to hook it up." My dad said "Ahh, I'll follow you." It wasn't until about half way home that I realized "Duh! Our yard light doesn't work!" I laughed out loud at my stupidity. I guess I'm not the brightest bulb in the light fixture.:)

  1. Looks like a hard working man. I'm a little envious about being outside in the rain and snow. Ok, not so envious. I decided to print out the last picture of Shupe to hang on our fridge for Lily.

    Take care guys.
