What a blessing...

Our church family (Pigeon River Mennonite) has helped us out tremendously since Abraham was born. The day I came home from the hospital families started bringing by meals on a schedule put together by one of our friends, Darci. She set it up so that we basically will not have to cook through the first week of January. This has been such a relief to me, as some days getting a shower and 1 load of laundry done are my major accomplishments.

This is a picture of one of the meals that Stephanie recently brought...Chinese by candlelight! How fun!!

My two cuties...any advice out there on helping little babies through gassy times? Poor Abraham has had some rough periods this last week with a rumbly tummy.

  1. Hello schupes, You might not remember who I am but I dated and married Dave Vander Leest from Dordt. I was reading your blog about Abraham being gassy. Just this weekend I learned this trick from a friend who son was very gassy and colicy. She was told to put half of a peppermint in his bottle with his breast milk or formula. the peppermint soothes there little stomaches! I have never tried this trick, but as I have learned I have asked other people and they have had to do the same thing. Le tme know if it works out. Really enjoy reading your blog, Dave and I do!! You guys are great parents.

  2. Kelly,
Thank you so much for the advice. Someone at church had mentioned that peppermint had worked for well for their daughter as well. Abraham is strictly nursing and hasn't taken any bottles, so I will have to explore this idea a little more!
    Thanks again!!
