Jonathan went with the "Slide the Toothbrush Over the Length of the Tube" technique in an attempt to squeeze every bit out.
I went with the "Fold up Every Last Bit of the Round Part of the Tube into the Portal" technique, along with the secret technique of "Squeeze A Little Extra once You Have Enough."
My hopes were dashed to run Jonathan out of toothpaste, though. If you know Jonathan, you know he doesn't usually give up and he does not like to lose. So, on the last day, he came up with the ingenious idea to get his Leatherman out. Now, to some people duct tape is the cure for everything. For my husband, it's his Leatherman.
He cut that tube right open and was victorious!
And in case you can't tell from the picture, there really was hardly any toothpaste left when he cut it open. A good lesson in stewardship, eh? We probably would have thrown the tube out a week earlier if it wasn't for our silly war, but just think of how much extra we got out! Every little bit counts!
Nice. Is there anyway we can do this competition long distance? I bet Laura and I could beat you :)
ReplyDeleteNo way dude!!! How are you ever gonna beat the leatherman trick? Plus Angela has some pretty tough fingers. Thus why I had to resort to the leatherman. Maybe if we FED EXed a tube back and forth we could deal in the death of the toothpaste tube, but that might defeat the whole money saving part of the competition.
ReplyDeleteWho cares?
BRING IT!!!!
So you two were dealing with the same tube of toothpaste? Jonathan - as much i'd like to stick up for you, you DID bring in the heavy equipment to finish the job. At least you acknowledged Angela's strong hands in the comment above... :)
ReplyDeleteBen and I have found our own way around this. Since we use different bathrooms we have two different tubes of toothpaste (Colgate for him, Crest for me). In the end we both work those tubes for all they are worth...mainly because we forgot to add toothpaste to the grocery list and it's all we've got. :) I've always thought it might come down to cutting open the tube, but haven't done it to date. I like to run the tube over the edge of the counter instead.
