Last Sunday, we said farewell to our dear brother Aaron Shupe! Aaron left for the country of Guinea in West Africa, to serve for at least a year as a tutor to the four missionary children of Cal and Jamie Hofland. He was sent through Christian Reformed World Missions.
While we are tremendously excited to see how God uses Aaron this next year, we also will miss him very much! Aaron will be in a very remote (no Internet - can you imagine?) part of Guinea, so we will not have much contact with him. He is supposed to be able to email through a satellite phone I think - wild! So different from cozy life in the States, it is hard to imagine. He felt God's calling and was obedient, even though it may not be an easy, comfortable assignment. He treasures Christ above all and we are blessed to have him as a brother!
Some of the Shupes were able to get together the night before he left to harass him a little bit:).
As you can tell, the boys' reactions to him leaving were a bit mixed.
Boredom...?
Anger...?
Actually...they were just kindly playing along as the girls shouted out poses for them to make:). We like the muscle shot best, although the sleepy shot is pretty fitting for a Shupe get-together at our house:).
We love you Aaron!
