The solution to worldwide fuel prices

I was just reading our missionary friends in Zambia's blog about Zambian fuel prices (Almost $5/gallon) and the thought occurred to me that instead of driving, a horse would be the vehicle of choice (See the link to their blog "Stranbergs" and the post "Gearheads") . Linda emailed that there are lots of ox carts for sale:). Well I think I thought of the perfect combination. Instead of an ox cart or a horse, how about a Dutch Belt cow. They obviously were bread for having a saddle on them like horses. I think they were probably the for-runner to the book "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Choosing and Riding a Cow." Or possibly they were developed as a breed as an intended buy one get one free scheme to go with the book (Buy the book get the already color coded cow free). What do you think? Would it work? (And as an added bonus they fuel themselves and provide on the road beverages!!)

    Johnathan and Angela,
Hi - it's Mari (hope you remember - we met in Zambia!)...I know this is kind of random, but as I have been thinking and praying about Zambia recently, your names keep popping up in my head, and so I decided that I wanted to check out your blog (info curtesy of Blake a few months back) to see how you were doing. And so glad that I did! I found myself laughing outloud while perusing several of your articles, even the Star Wars ones (sigh). Johnathan - you have quite the idea with cow transport - seriously! Something has got to change with these gas prices or "we're doomed" (as one of my students always says). And Angela - you look like quite the cook! I think I want to steal some of your recipes. But for real, I hope you both are doing well, and I'm assuming you're still in Minnesota, right? Well anyway, I thought I'd say hi:) I'm back in Vancouver, Washington teaching 5th-grade and about to start my master's program in ELL (Teaching English Language Learning). Still have a heart for missions - maybe even in Zambia again, but also know that God might have other crazy plans for me too.
    Again, hope you are well!

  2. Mari,
We were both so blessed to read your comment! With so many visitors to Action Zambia we're honored you remember us - of course we remember you!:) Your master's program sounds pretty interesting. Does it mean teaching "English" or English as a second language or something totally different? Jonathan and I are still in Michigan, actually! We have been out to visit Blake in Minnesota once this spring. We miss the guy:). Hope the Star Wars rhetoric brings back memories for you. We're excited to hear what crazy plans God does have for you in the future.
