In the News

I heard someone saying how our rate of inflation is way too high the other day.
As of this week Zimbabwe's annual rate of inflation is now at 2,200,000 %.
To help get your mind around that, consider this.... For the month of May the US annual rate of inflation was 4.18% according to Inflation Data.com. The Annual rate of inflation in Zimbabwe (unless I am stupid and do bad math) is about 4.185%.... per minute.

Tolkien writes in his writings about middle earth where the more a certain people chased immortality and long life (they were already very long lived but wanted to live on eternally) the shorter their life spans were and the more degraded their lives were. Sounds a bit like cable tv (sorry dan), internet junky, fast food loving Americans: According to the BBC:
The American Human Development Report found that the US ranked 42nd in the world for life expectancy despite spending more on health care per person than any other country.

That is very interesting... Pursuing perfect health and a couch potato lifestyle at the same time doesn't usually work very well. Which would explain why big money spent on health care does NOT mean healthier life. I wish more doctors would admit this (there are some).
